May 2009 Council Elections brought outstanding success for Somerset Conservatives!
Throughout the county, we now have 35 seats, the Liberal Democrats have 21, and Labour 2, leaving us with a clear majority of 12.
In Somerton and Frome Constituency we gained 4 seats from the Lib Dems and held onto all our existing divisions.
Congratulations to –
Castle Cary – Bob Little defeated Henry Hobhouse by 6 votes, after losing to the same opponent by 11 four years ago;
Frome North – Peter John wins the seat vacated by Duncan Fisken
Somerton – Jimmy Zouche overturned an 700+ majority to defeat Pauline Clarke.
Wincanton & Bruton – Anna Groskop emphatically defeated the Deputy Leader of the Council with a majority of 1,000
